Coach Hommen has been a varsity coach for over 30 years. For 29 years he has run the Diamonds in the Rough Baseball Camp. He has been inducted into the NJ Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, The Tenafly High School Hall of Fame ,the Metropolitan Baseball League Hall of Fame and received the Thomas Dell Torre Special Achievement Award from the YMCA in 2016. Selected 2019 Bergen County Baseball Coach of The Year.
Currently the Head Baseball Coach at Ridgewood High School. Career coaching record of (595) Wins and (278) Losses.
RHS 2023 - New Jersey Group 4 State Champions - Freedom Division League Champions.
RHS - 2021 and 2022 Freedom Division League Champions
RHS - 2019- Big North League champions, Bergen County Champions and State Champions
The RHS 2018 - Big North League Championship and State Sectional Championship.
The RHS 2017 - Big North league championship and State Sectional Championship.
The RHS 2016 - Big North league championship and were State Sectional finalists.

Ridgewood coach Kurt Hommen joined a select club when the Maroons blanked North Bergen, 10-0 in five innings, last Tuesday. The win was the 500th of his coaching career, which is in its ninth season at Ridgewood after 20 at Tenafly. Hommen is the ninth Bergen County baseball coach to have won 500 or more games, and his record of 503-249 entering Monday is good for a .669 winning percentage. He joined St. Joseph's Frank Salvano (630-184), Ramsey's John Ponchak (555-342), Emerson's Bob Carcich (539-233), Paramus' Joe Cervino (538-284-2), Lyndhurst's Butch Servideo (524-265-1), Ralph Cobb (522-321 at NV/Old Tappan and Rutherford), current NV/Old Tappan coach Tim Byron, (519-281 including stops at Ramapo, Glen Ridge and Montclair) and Cliffside Park's John Brunelli (511-239)..
